Captain Mark Kelly Statement on New Arizona Law to Strengthen Gun Background Checks Through Improved Mental Health Reporting

Captain Mark Kelly, Co-Founder of Americans for Responsible Solutions, issued the following statement after Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed House Bill 2322. The law, which goes into effect on January 1, 2015, strengthens the background check system for gun sales by ensuring that Arizonans who have been ruled “incompetent” to stand trial in a criminal case or have been determined to be an “Incapacitated Person” and a danger to themselves or others are reported by the state of Arizona to the federal National Instant Background Check System:
