Giffords Endorses Congressman Darren Soto for Congress in Florida
Washington, DC — Giffords, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and Captain Mark Kelly, announced its endorsement of Congressman Darren Soto for reelection in Florida’s ninth congressional district.
Congressman Darren Soto has been a strong voice for common sense gun laws in Congress. He voted against the gun lobby’s dangerous concealed carry reciprocity measure last year and has advocated for requiring background checks on all firearm sales as part of his five point gun safety plan. Florida families are tired of inaction from Congress when it comes to addressing our nation’s gun violence epidemic. Congressman Soto has heard their voices and will continue to fight for their interests in Washington.

Giffords’ #VoteCourage campaign is aimed at electing gun safety advocates to Congress and defeating politicians who have historically worked against gun reform, or done nothing at all to prevent gun violence. The political program targets incumbents in mostly suburban districts and uses a mixture of TV and digital advertising, on-the-ground organizing, and a voter registration push to create momentum for meaningful progress on gun safety.
