RELEASE: Giffords Endorses Martin Heinrich for Senate in New Mexico

The endorsement comes as part of the Giffords #VoteCourage Campaign to elect gun reform candidates nationwide

Washington, DC — Giffords, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and Captain Mark Kelly, announced its endorsement of Martin Heinrich for Senate in New Mexico.

Martin Heinrich is fighting to keep New Mexico families safe, and Giffords is proud to stand with him in this fight. As a gun owner and a sportsman, Senator Heinrich knows you can support both the second amendment and the commonsense policies that will save lives from gun violence. He is committed to stronger background checks, keeping guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, and supporting federal research on gun violence. He has taken a stand against the NRA and the corporate gun lobby.

Giffords’ #VoteCourage campaign aims to elect gun safety advocates to Congress and defeat politicians who have historically worked against gun reform, or done nothing at all to prevent gun violence. The political program targets incumbents in mostly suburban districts and uses a mixture of TV and digital advertising, on-the-ground organizing, and a voter registration push to create momentum for meaningful progress on gun safety.
