Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Reflects on Anniversary of Tree of Life Synagogue Shooting
October 27, 2019 — Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords reflected on the first anniversary of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh that left 11 people dead and six others injured.
Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords;
“One year ago a peaceful day of prayer at the Tree of Life Synagogue was shattered, taking 11 lives and leaving six others injured. Many in the community, and in the city of Pittsburgh, are still reliving this nightmare. These tragedies should be unimaginable in America but they have become all too common.
“Hatred in our society is making America’s gun violence crisis worse. It’s on us to make a change. While these might be scary times, we can never forget that together we are stronger. We’ll never stop fighting to make it harder for dangerous people fueled by hate to access firearms and commit murder.”
