Congresswoman Giffords Praises Biden-Harris Administration on Inauguration Day

Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, co-founder of the gun violence prevention group Giffords, released the following statement ahead of the Inauguration of President Joe Biden.

Statement from former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords:

“Today, with the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, we are writing a new chapter of American history—together.

“Joe Biden will restore empathy, decency, and competence to the presidency, and Kamala Harris will make history as our first woman, first Black, and first South Asian vice president. The new administration is ready to tackle the Covid crisis that has stolen too many lives, to confront systemic racism within our imperfect democracy, and to take action to end gun violence devastating communities.

“This journey won’t be easy. But we must not let the size of the obstacles stop us from moving forward. We must choose hope over helplessness and courage over complacency. The road ahead is undoubtedly a long and difficult one, but I’m confident that we as a nation are up for the challenge.”
