Giffords Florida Hosts Day of Action for Miami-Dade Candidates
Miami, FL — On Saturday, November 5th, Giffords Florida held a Get Out the Vote Day of Action for Democratic congressional candidate Annette Taddeo, Florida State Senate candidate Janelle Perez, Florida State House candidate Adam Benna, with Giffords Senior Advisor Former Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Rep. Ted Lieu and the Miami Dade Young Democrats.
Former Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell:
“This weekend’s day of action had a massive turnout, and it’s clear that Miami residents are excited to vote for change up and down the ballot. Gun violence has claimed the lives of too many innocent victims across Florida, and it’s time that voters send a clear message to our leaders in Tallahassee and Washington that enough is enough. We cannot move backwards this fall—we need to elect champions like Annette Taddeo, Adam Benna, and Janelle Perez, who are ready to do the hard work necessary to save lives. With them leading the charge, we can push for universal background checks on all gun sales, secure more funding for desperately needed community violence intervention programs, and stop plans to implement dangerous permitless carry laws in their tracks. That’s what’s on the ballot this Tuesday. It’s critical that everyone goes out and votes for un futuro sin violencia—our communities cannot wait!”
Giffords, the national gun violence prevention organization led by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, recently launched Giffords Florida to support candidates across the Sunshine State with the courage to end gun violence. At the beginning of September, Giffords Florida conducted a bus tour throughout Florida supporting gun safety champions, including Taddeo and Perez.
Recently, Giffords Florida launched a six-figure Spanish language ad campaign on Miami-Dade County radio stations and on digital platforms. This campaign specifically included ads in support of Perez. To date, Giffords Florida has also hosted four days of action for Miami-Dade candidates this cycle.
