Giffords PAC Endorses Victor Bencomo for the Colorado House of Representatives

Washington DC — Today, Giffords PAC, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, announced its endorsement of Victor Bencomo for the Colorado House of Representatives in District 8. As the president of Giffords’ Gun Owners for Safety Colorado chapter, Bencomo has worked to advocate for policy solutions that will keep our children and families safe, while still respecting the Second Amendment rights of Coloradans.

“Victor has been an essential voice in the fight for commonsense gun safety measures in Colorado. As president of Giffords’ Gun Owners for Safety Colorado chapter, he has always found the courage to act and has pushed those in power to do the same by testifying before state and federal committees in support of extreme risk protection order laws and universal background checks. Colorado has experienced far too many tragedies in recent years—and even now the state is still dealing with the trauma of the recent horrific mass shooting in Colorado Springs. Now more than ever, Coloradans deserve leaders who will put their safety first and Victor will use his experiences with gun ownership to be that champion. I am proud to endorse my friend in his bid for the Colorado House of Representatives.”

I fought to protect this country, and I will continue to fight to protect Coloradans from gun violence in the state legislature.”

As a father, Navy veteran, and gun owner, Victor Bencomo understands that weapons of war have no place on our streets, and in office, he’ll ensure that the glaring loopholes in his state’s law that put Coloradans at risk are closed once and for all. He is a passionate advocate for gun violence prevention and has previously testified before the Colorado Legislature and the US House of Representatives’ Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. In both instances, he highlighted the importance of addressing veteran suicide and the need to pass universal background checks and a federal extreme risk protection order law nationwide. After countless tragedies, including the 2021 mass shooting in Boulder and the recent tragedy in Colorado Springs, he’s made it clear that Americans from all walks of life need to come together to enact commonsense reforms that will curb our country’s epidemic of senseless violence.
