GIFFORDS Lauds Illinois Legislature and AG Raoul for Advancing Gun Violence Victims’ Access to Justice Bill

Highland Park, IL GIFFORDS, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, lauded the Illinois Legislature for advancing HB 218, the Gun Violence Victims’ Access to Justice Bill. The bill would repeal Illinois gun industry immunity laws and create an opportunity for victims to seek fair justice in court when they are harmed by illegal and wrongful conduct by the corporate gun industry.

Sean Holihan, GIFFORDS State Legislative Director:
“Every year, hundreds of thousands of Americans are killed or injured by guns while the highly profitable gun industry enjoys enormous special interest protections and no incentive to reform its business practices. This bill would help change that. We thank Attorney General Kwame Raoul for his leadership and the Illinois Legislature for taking swift action on this legislation. GIFFORDS will continue to partner with lawmakers in the state to protect victims seeking fair justice and compensation from corporations who break the law and cause them harm.”
