Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Remembers Victims of Mass Shooting at Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, One Year Later
Washington DC — Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, founder of gun violence prevention group GIFFORDS, released the following statement honoring the victims and survivors of the mass shooting at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, one year ago today. Six people were killed and four more were injured, just two days after the hate-fueled attack at Club Q in Colorado.
Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords:
“This Thanksgiving, six family dining tables will have an empty chair. One year ago today, their loved ones were stolen from them at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, and four more were injured. A workplace should never turn into one of violence, yet this season, too many families across America are grieving. We can and must do more to protect our communities from gun violence.”
