GIFFORDS Statement on Shooting at University of Nevada, Las Vegas
Washington DC — Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, founder of the gun violence prevention organization GIFFORDS, released the following statement after a shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. According to law enforcement, at least three people were killed and another was injured. The suspected shooter is deceased.
Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords:
“This afternoon, just a few hours before the National Vigil for Victims of Gun Violence in DC, we learned of another shooting at a college campus in Nevada. We don’t have to live this way. Students shouldn’t have to live in fear while seeking an education. My heart breaks for the UNLV community. Our leaders need to act against gun violence.”
Nevada received a C+ on GIFFORDS Law Center’s Annual Gun Law Scorecard.
