GIFFORDS Statement on Shooting at Perry High School in Iowa

Washington DC — Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, founder of the gun violence prevention organization GIFFORDS, released the following statement after a shooting at Perry High School in Perry, Iowa.

Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords:

“As kids were returning to school after break, a morning of reuniting with friends and teachers quickly turned to terror. Let’s be clear: students shouldn’t have to worry about being shot at school. We know that stronger laws prevent gun violence, yet Iowa has some of the weakest in the country. My heart goes out to the Perry community, we stand with you and won’t stop fighting to keep our kids safe.”

Iowa received an F on GIFFORDS Law Center’s Annual Scorecard.
