Nevadans Must Reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris to Continue Gun Safety Progress

Vice President Harris highlighted the successes of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act in Nevada, called for more action.

Washington DC — Today, GIFFORDS, the national gun violence prevention group led by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, applauded Vice President Kamala Harris’s call for additional action on gun safety. Vice President Harris visited Las Vegas today where she highlighted the successes of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act in last week’s historic expansion of federal background checks, while calling for more to be done to address our gun violence crisis.

Emma Brown, Executive Director, GIFFORDS

“The Biden-Harris administration did what many thought couldn’t be done, they broke a nearly 30-year logjam and passed a federal gun safety law, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act,  with the help of Senator Jacky Rosen and Democratic members of Nevada’s US House delegation. Just last week, this law proved its life-saving effect by taking on the gun show loophole and expanding federal background checks. It has also stopped gun traffickers and helped keep guns out of the hands of young people who shouldn’t have them.

“In 2017, Nevada saw a horrific mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival. Only with continued progress will more lives be saved. Vice President Harris made it clear today that their work isn’t done – Nevadans must reelect President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Senator Rosen to finish the job. Lives depend on it.”

Nevada received a B- on GIFFORDS Law Center’s Annual Gun Law Scorecard

GIFFORDS PAC has endorsed President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Senator Jacky Rosen, and US Representatives Dina Titus, Steven Horsford, and Susie Lee for reelection.
