GIFFORDS: Donald Trump disqualified himself last night

WASHINGTON — GIFFORDS, the national gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, released the following statement following Thursday night’s debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. 

“Last night, Donald Trump reminded the country why they kicked him out of office in the first place. He lied constantly, embraced January 6 insurrectionists, and again refused to say he would abide by the results of the election—all of that is disqualifying,” said GIFFORDS Executive Director Emma Brown. “People are worried about their families’ safety, but Trump spent his time in the White House destroying abortion rights and cutting taxes for huge corporations instead of closing loopholes in our gun laws that would keep us safe. Joe Biden is the only candidate in this race with the moral clarity and backbone to fight and beat the gun lobby. He has done more to protect communities from gun violence than any president in history.”
