As an Emmy Award–winning broadcast journalist for more than 30 years, Janelle Stelson has spent much of her life listening and talking directly to the people of Central Pennsylvania—and she’s seen how an increase in gun violence affects a community’s sense of safety. Now, she’s fighting to earn a spot in Congress so she can ensure public safety and commonsense measures to keep guns out of the wrong hands are at the forefront of the national dialogue.

If elected, she’ll work across the aisle to build consensus around expanding background checks on all gun sales and encouraging responsible gun ownership, like incentivizing safe storage to protect children. She will support implementing lifesaving red flag laws that allow law enforcement officers, families, and courts to work together to keep guns away from individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others, in order to keep communities safe from preventable tragedies. As a leader who understands the importance of incorporating local voices and leaders to solve tough problems, Stelson will be a strong voice for funding community violence intervention programs to enable impactful partnerships between local law enforcement and the communities they serve. 

Next fall, a new gun safety majority in Congress will run through battleground seats like Pennsylvania’s Tenth District, and voters must turn out to flip this seat and send a committed advocate like Janelle Stelson to advocate on their behalf. She knows that it will take all of us to make real change, and she’s ready to do the hard work of getting it done on gun safety. With her leading the way, we know a future free from gun violence is within reach.
