GUN SAFETY VICTORY: Incumbent Chris Deluzio wins election, promising to be an essential gun safety champion

WASHINGTON –GIFFORDS, the national gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, congratulated Rep. Chris Deluzio on his successful reelection.

“As an Iraq War veteran, Representative Deluzio knows what it means to handle firearms. During his time in office, the congressman has resolved to push hard for commonsense policies like universal background checks, red flag laws, and banning the weapons of war that he knows from personal experience are too dangerous for our streets,” said former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. “I was proud to join Congressman Deluzio on the campaign trail and can say with confidence that, with a leader like him fighting for us, our country is one step closer to being free from the fear of gun violence. Congratulations to Congressman Deluzio on your reelection, and we look forward to continuing to work with you in Congress.”

This September, Deluzio worked with his Democratic colleagues to introduce the Freedom from Intimidation in Elections Act, which would limit the presence of visible firearms at the polls, protecting citizens from intimidation as they exercise a fundamental right.
