Senator Sherrod Brown believes that when you love your country, you fight for the people who make it work—and in the US Senate, he’s done just that by working to keep communities across Ohio safe from senseless gun violence. Throughout his career, from serving as Ohio’s secretary of state, to his time as a member of the US House, and now as his state’s senior senator, Senator Brown has never been afraid to stand up to special interests like the gun lobby and put the wellbeing of his constituents first.
In office, Senator Brown has been a champion for many of the lifesaving measures that have the potential to curb our country’s epidemic of gun violence, including expanding background checks to all gun sales and providing desperately needed funding to lifesaving community violence intervention programs. Senator Brown has also consistently called for the passage of legislation to ensure that gun owners safely store their weapons and extreme risk protection order laws that would give families and law enforcement the power to petition a court to remove firearms from individuals exhibiting signs of wanting to harm themselves or others. In 2022, Senator Brown joined colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass the first tangible gun safety legislation in nearly 30 years, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which helped disarm domestic abusers and made gun trafficking a federal crime.
This fall, Senator Brown’s reelection campaign will be one of the tightest races in the country, and his victory is the key to maintaining the gun safety majority in the US Senate. With so much on the line in November, it’s imperative that Ohioans of every background mobilize like never before to send this principled, measured public servant back to Washington DC.
