Giffords Endorses Gun Safety Champions in Virginia
Washington, DC — Today, Giffords, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, is endorsing a wide array of candidates committed to securing gun safety in Virginia. The announcement comes after the former Congresswoman campaigned on behalf of candidates for the Virginia House of Delegates, a $60,000 investment supporting the state’s House Democrats, and several contributions to statewide races ahead of the election in November. The Commonwealth has made a great deal of progress to strengthen its gun laws in the past two years, such as implementing universal background checks and authorizing extreme risk protection orders, and it’s imperative that Virginians continue to elect gun safety champions. Giffords is proud to endorse these candidates.
Statement from former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords:
“At a time when the gun lobby is trafficking in lies and misinformation to stop commonsense gun laws, it’s more important than ever to elect candidates who support gun safety that is proven to make our communities safer.
“The candidates we are endorsing today have the courage to stand up to the gun lobby and stand up for the lives of Virginians. Many have proven it with the votes they have taken to make Virginia a leader on gun safety, and others have proven it with their actions in their communities. Giffords is proud to endorse these leaders who will never stop working to save lives.”
