GIFFORDS PAC announces nearly $2M swing state gun owner ad campaign to elect Kamala Harris

WASHINGTON — Today, the national gun violence prevention organization GIFFORDS PAC, founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, announced a $1.8 million swing state advertising campaign to help Vice President Kamala Harris win the White House. The television and digital ads will focus on communicating with women and Latino voters in Michigan and Nevada about the dangers of electing former president Donald Trump. The group’s push is the latest component of its more than $15 million commitment to electing and supporting gun safety champions in 2024.

The ads feature Steve K., a gun owner and veteran, speaking about the importance of keeping guns away from people who can do harm. Earlier this month, GIFFORDS launched Gun Owners for Harris-Walz consisting of more than 400 members across 45 states, plus the District of Columbia, who will organize and mobilize gun owners until Election Day.

“Closing the loopholes that let dangerous people get guns isn’t about politics, it’s about keeping our schools and communities safe. Yet our nation’s children risk their lives at school every day because Donald Trump puts his gun lobby donors over their safety. Parents everywhere are fed up—gun owners are too,” said GIFFORDS Executive Director Emma Brown. “Gun homicides skyrocketed by 34% when Trump was in the White House, yet he bragged to the NRA that he did ‘nothing’ to stop gun violence. Kamala Harris is the clear choice for voters who understand nothing is more important than keeping kids safe.”

Responsibility

STEVE K.: I’m a former commander of a U.S. Army small arms training company, and I take the responsibility of being a gun owner very seriously.

We need to make sure that these weapons don’t end up in the wrong hands, but when Donald Trump had the chance, he refused to close loopholes that let criminals and dangerous people buy guns. That leads to more violent crime, and it puts our law enforcement at risk.

Kamala Harris will do what it takes to keep our families and communities safe.

In The News

STEVE K.: It’s in the news all the time, another school shooting. It’s a parent’s worst nightmare. Hoping your kid’s school isn’t next.

I know the importance of gun safety. I served in the U.S. Army and I’ve owned guns my whole life. But Donald Trump wants to actually loosen our gun laws. And when he had a chance, Trump refused to close loopholes that let dangerous people buy guns.

We need a president who will keep our kids safe.
