GUN SAFETY VICTORY: GIFFORDS PAC congratulates Governor-elect Sherrill

WASHINGTON — Today, GIFFORDS PAC, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, celebrated New Jersey voters’ choice to elect Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill as her state’s next governor. This important win will ensure the Garden State continues to be headed by a gun safety champion committed to passing life-saving laws and keeping New Jersey one of the safest states in the nation. GIFFORDS PAC endorsed Sherrill, who has a long record of fighting gun crime in Congress, and Congresswoman Gabby Giffords was proud to join her on the campaign trail last month.

Governor-elect Sherrill has served as an assistant U.S. attorney and in the U.S. Navy. In 2018, she made history by flipping a seat that had been red for over thirty years becoming the first woman to represent her district. While in Congress, Sherrill advocated for essential legislation such as expanding background checks, banning bump stocks, incentivizing the safe storage of firearms, disarming domestic abusers, and played an important role in passing the landmark Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.
